Hello Warm Weather

This week has been amazing! The sun was shining all week, the temperatures were in the 60s and 70s, and we were able to enjoy lots of time outside.

Sofia and I took lots of walks. One included a nap in the park - to which she woke and was the happiest sweet baby around! Today we took walks before bother her morning and afternoon walk and walked her into dreamland! We've also enjoyed evening sunset walks with Daddy after dinner. Tonight's walk included a little swing time too!

We've hung out with the cousins and Aunt Jac in the yard everyday, but sadly had to keep our distance because P has been sick! :(

There's a photo below of Sofia chewing/sucking/eating my pear. It's kind of funny watching her do this... She pulls my hand down to get the pear to her mouth. Then she refuses to let go, and if I able to get it away for a bite she essentially growls as she pulls the pear back to her mouth!

She's also been teething lots lately, but today is the first day I can feel something (I think) pushing its way up. It seems the first tooth will be the bottom front left, but we shall see. Poor teething baby... I predicting she has her first tooth any day now! I am also predicting that tonight is another night with shoddy sleep...

Oh and I think she's going to be like her cousins and enjoy beer bottles! No babies consumed alcoholic beverages though!!! Everyone knows you have to be 21 to drink ;)

Porch Garden

I've always wanted to have a space to have some plants growing. In NYC, the squirrels were into eating my plants, so that didn't work so well (except for the mint... And that stuff is LEGIT! It came back from the dead!) So this afternoon, when Sofia woke up from a rather short nap, I decided we'd go get plants for our porch!

I was able to plant some of it this afternoon while Sofia hung out in her Bumbo seat. The rest I planted after dinner. You can see Seth and Sofia checking up on the planting progress in one of the photos!

This Sweet Bum

I couldn't resist shooting this photo tonight. After bath, as Sofia sat on the bed, Seth encouraged her to crawl over to him. She's only just showing beginning signs of this next step... In no time at all she'll be all over the place!!

Mama Baby Fun

Being home with Sofia is one of the best choices I have made. I feel so lucky that I am able to do it too. (Thanks Seth for bringing home the bacon!)

I hope Sofia doesn't mind her crazy outfit!

A Glimpse of Sofia's Weekend

A few days late... Didn't realize it didn't publish!

Flashback Post! Kansas Cousins

I didn't realize that our photos from our trip to Kansas in January never got posted. Here are photos from my brother's wrestling tournament that was happening in town while we were there. Lucky for us, we also got to see my other brother, his wife, and Sofia's two adorable cousins.

I can't believe how small she is in these photos! And how much hair she has... she went quite "bald" since then...

Sweet Khloe, who is now a toddler!!! Happy Birthday sweet girl! I am sending kisses your way!

Visiting with Aunt Desi. We need more Aunt Desi snuggles!!

This reminded me of Tristan's first subway ride almost a year and a half ago. How he's changed!!!

Sofia needed a nap. Daddy took care of that in the foyer. We don't get these kind of snuggles any longer... Other parents said enjoy it while you can, it will pass. And sadly, it did. No more chest snuggles. :(

So tired!

Eating Books

Almost every morning we read. At the end of reading, Sofia tries to eat the books. She also practices turning the pages!

One of our books has an octopus that moved its legs when you wiggle the book. I have wiggled it a few times for Sofia, and this morning, after handing her the book, she seemed to try to wiggle it too! (It's in the photo that has the blurry book...) Babies are just brilliant!

Some of Our FAVORITE Visitors Came!

I realized I have quite a few posts that never got posted (like our whole trip back to Kansas in January!) Here are some photos from a few weeks ago though. Kendra and Ian came to visit from New York. We took them to Mount Hood for part of their stay and then enjoyed Portland for the other part. I can't wait for them to come back in July... wish they were here 100% of the time though - that would be even better!

A little mama if I ever saw one! She's feeding her baby some bread. Wish she'd feed me some bread ;)

Uncle Ethan discovered Sofia's love for peek-a-boo! Here they are hiding.

Not sure which one of these two were more excited about staying together in the house at the mountain!

Check out these two hipsters. Sofia just needs to trade in those polka dots for a flannel shirt and she'll be ready to hang with the rest of 'em.

I was a bad photographer... I didn't get many photos of Ian with the baby on my actual camera. I did get a few on my phone. Unfortunately, he started feeling under the weather and didn't want to chance spreading anything to Sofia so he enjoyed her from a distance.

Sofia's First Easter Bunny Encounter

The Easter Bunny stopped by to visit Sofia with a spring basket of goodies. A good number of those goodies were also sent to her from her Nana and Papa in Kansas. It reminded me of how we'd get clothes for Easter from our Grandma and Grandpa too. Can't wait to put Sofia in those brightly colored spring outfits! (NOTE: The Reeses were for Seth ;)

I think Sofia enjoys her bunny. I sewed it for her and it has many flaws. I've got to sew a couple more for practice, but this one still makes her happy despite it's flaws!

Reading a book with furry dogs and cats. (She loves these books Nana!)

Sofia is way too little to get the whole egg hunt, but luckily for us, P and Z are just upstairs and we share a backyard, so egg hiding was on!

Hiding eggs was WAY too much fun! And watching them search was even more fun!

Zia may or may not be holding an empty bottle of...

P realized quickly that there were coins in the eggs. We encouraged him to help Zia figure out there were coins in her eggs. This was primarily because we were pulling a prank on P. We filled Z's eggs with quarters, nickels, and dime, and in P's eggs, we put pennies!

Haha! It was so funny watching him as he continued to get pennies and Z continued to get larger coins! This prank was inspired by his orneriness from the night before. He stopped by to let me know he was going out for ice cream. He made sure to really rub it in since he knows I'm off dairy.

How cute is her little yellow spring dress!? It was her mama's! So sweet!

And of course, backyard time isn't complete without a few slugs and worms.

The blooms in the trees were magnificent against the blue sky!

Showing Uncle Seth her magic trick: "Where'd it go?"

And Uncle Seth showing off his magic trick... He had to revise it and not pull it from her ear just in case she tried to repeat his trick and put things in her ear to pull it out. Ohhhh toddlerhood. We'll know you soon enough!

RIP Sluggy Slug. You made a little girl very happy at the end of your life!

NOTE: Sofia was missing in all the egg hunt photos. She snoozed right through the fun. We spent the rest of our day outside enjoying the wonderful weather and family.
