On the Met with Mama

Home to NYC last night, later than originally scheduled because we
missed our flight. But home none the less. It's nice to be home and
definitely nice to see my husband after being gone for so long.

Today we had lunch with Seth and headed up to the Met to see the
summer rooftop exhibit. We enjoyed the view and the breeze with a nice
frozen drink.

Now, we are exploring in Central Park and off to the American Girl
store to find a surprise for the youngest :)

Sans 14 inches

I have been talking about doing this for over 2 years... It's shocking
how attached I became to my hair, but I have finally gotten the
courage to chop it. First my brother's wife chopped hers not long
after their wedding this last winter... Then, more recently, my sister-
in-law in NYC chopped hers. Both donated their locks to Locks of Love.
I kept thinking if they could part with their strands then I should be
able to as well... I've spent the last month talking myself up to
this. I was sad to find out that my usual hair stylist was out of the
country on vacation, but my mom quickly offered up hers and scheduled
the appointment.

This morning I went in and had her chop off 14 inches of my red wavy
strands. These 14 inches will soon be packaged and shipped to Locks of
Love (an organization that makes wigs for youth suffering from loss of
hair due to medicine/sickness).

It's interesting lacking all that hair, but it's a fresh start and
perfect timing in this hot summer heat. And I can always start all
over in growing out to donate again someday!

(I could Not believe how much my cut cost me... The one time I got my
hair cut in NYC I spent $90... Back here, where I am originally from,
it cost me $16!!!)

I Kinda Forgot...

How much I love animals. I have been surrounded by farm kitties and
farm puppies and a few farm cows. Here's one I just met. He was a
jersey on a dairy farm. (where I had the Best ice cream!!)

Good Morning New York!

Seth sent me this photo of the morning city this morning. It's nice to
see NYC from states away. I spent yesterday driving over 8 hours to
get back to my home state. Had dinner and stayed with Seth's family
last night. I'll be heading to the family farm this morning.

I've been gone for a week now, and have been having a wonderful time
with family. Yesterday, when I was driving, I did have a few moments
where I was completely exhausted feeling and wishing I were home...
But I am looking forward to the week and a half of adventure that I
have left.

I'm staying the next week with my mom and step dad. Squeezing in a
weekend night trip to my college town to see some of my favorite
people. I am taking senior photos of my brother, his best friend, and
my sister-in-laws younger sister, along with a few family photos.

Then we (my youngest brother made the trip with me) are heading back
to Dad's to help with the preparations for their move to Alaska... And
after that my (step) mom and I are going on our own little roadtrip to
drop off a car to my brother who's still in college in the south. From
there, mom is flying back to NYC for a week in the city. I am hoping
and praying for nice, comfortable, cool weather when we return.

Donuts, Shopping, Stickers

Family trip to Austin area today. One of our first stops this morning was a donut place with the biggest donuts I've ever seen!

The muffin on the left is a normal sized muffin, in case you need a point of reference.

The sisters before shopping. Like my teal sweater?? My siblings gave it to me yesterday for my birthday!! It was such an amazing present! I had mentioned how much I loved it in passing and was shocked to be holding it right before blowing out the candles for my birthday!

Below is a photo of mom, Em, and me.

Ohhhh the things we do to entertain ourselves. Here's my dad at lunch. The torture this time was not coming from the children :)

Fireworks

I spent this 4th of July with my family on my dad's side. It was so nice, relaxing, and enjoyable! We had a very delicious dinner at home before heading to the local fireworks show. Dad trecked us through the mob of people and to the most perfect spot. We felt like we were literally in the front row of the show!

This one is for Seth. It reminds me of his APD (Astronomy Picture of the Day)!! :) I really wish he could have been there to enjoy the show with me... He was back home on the roof with his brother and g/f.

The show ended with the shooting of the cannons, which was extremely cool and LOUD. They said they were shooting about 40 rounds. This was the last set to go.

All Mondays Should Include Pedicures

The girls overruled the day's plans this afternoon and off we went for
pedicures. Dad and my brother, poor guys, are waiting outside the nail
place probably wishing the could poke their eyes out... We are luky
they are so kind and patient as the mama and three daughters beautify
our toes!

Happy 4th

I enjoyed the 4th out of the city another year... I joined my family
for an excellent fireworks show!! We had a great, relaxing 4th! I
shouldhavemore photos to share (hopefully someday) from my actual
camera, but for now, my phone camera will have to do!

Took off from NYC yesterday headed to visit family for two weeks. The
flights turned out okay, even though the weather did affect the
flights a little.

My New Bike!!

It's a work in progress (well not started yet, but will soon... &
hopefully completed by the time I am back in New York). Our friend
Scott hooked us up with bikes that his dad found in his hometown. We
cannot wait to ve ale to travel around so quickly in our
neighborhood!! I especially love that mine is GREEN!!

Tomorrow, I am leaving to take an adventure through the south and
Midwest for two and a half weeks. I'll be spending time with family
and also get to see a few friends along the way. I am so excited to
relax and enjoy the start of my summer.

Ooo and I'll also be able to celebrate the recent good news of the new
job I got this week!!! I signed the papers for the transfer today, and
I am beyond excited for a new start in a much better environment.
