Words on Wednesday

This week's words come from bathroom graffiti. (Be warned... NYC bathroom walls could say ANYTHING!)

Ok. The last two are a bit offensive... and maybe a bit funny.

Dreaming of Sunshine and Blue Skies

Dear Universe,
Did you know I'm on Spring Break??
Please go ahead and order me up some nice weather for the rest of my days off.
I can't say I'm really loving this rain and coldness.
Love, Alicia
PS: If you aren't quite sure what I'm asking for, SEE PHOTOS!

Week 13: People

This week's photo was of people. Knowing that Mrs. E had photographed this gentleman at the coffee shop, I was inspired to photograph someone at a coffee shop too. My photo was outside the coffee shop of a young woman texting while waiting to go in. I liked the similarities and differences in these two photos.

Unsettled Monday

Monday, for once I'm not sad to see you come. I like Mondays like this one, Mondays where I get to be home, where I get to sit at my computer surfing the internet for 2 hours straight if I choose. Mondays where I get to do the laundry and not think about having to do anything else pressing... Would love this Monday more if it weren't raining, but with the rain, Spring will come, green will come, blooms will come.

The weekend was a blur of fun and friends, but I'm absolutely exhausted, overstimulated (despite laying around yesterday doing Absolutely Nothing but watching movie after movie.) The East Village, a weird Italian restaurant with a variety of energies, games of Big Buck Hunter, a late night subway ride home. Then NCAA basketball games (and a sad loss and ending to our season), Williamsburg with new friends and old friends, the meeting of a tattoo apprentice (which only made me start thinking a little bit more about what I might want to get as I continue to dream of a future tattoo), inspirational words on the bathroom walls, and another late night home underground.

And even though I'm coming off a weekend of fun, a Sunday of utter laziness, and a Monday home, I'm feeling a bit unsettled, a bit stressed... anxious. Maybe it's the feelings of worry I have over the weird things my body has been doing the last week and a half... I can't quite describe it other than that I have been experiencing random moments of almost passing out and having trouble breathing. It only happens at work... So it makes me think it's stress and pressure, frustration for not being able to be good at something I want so badly to succeed at. Of course, I continue to think of all the possible things it could be, which is neither helpful or effective. I don't have a doctor here in the city, and frankly, I hate the thought of finding one... But maybe I should just suck it up, find someone, and make an appointment.

Spring. Spring. Spring.

Spring. Here. Look at the one of the first blooming trees I found in our neighborhood! It's absolutely beautiful but will soon be mixed in with all the other trees that are about to burst! I am dying to see the bright pink and white flowers take over!!

Sand Painter

I have become a bit of a fan of this guy's work! I've seen him multiple times now. I'm friends with him on Facebook, so I keep track of when he's in the Union Square area and try to go out to see what he's creating. Joe Mangrum creates this are with colored sand. According to his website, this piece took him about 8 hours of creating. Can you believe he works for 8 hours and then sweeps up all the sand!?!

To see more about Joe Mangrum, visit his website here.

Greenmarket

These photos were taken a couple weeks ago when we joined Seth's family at the Greenmarket in Grand Army Plaza. I'm a bit slow at sharing...

Anthro :: Love

I joined a friend for a bit of shopping (her shopping and me taking photos with my iphone dreaming about shopping) at Anthropologie the other day. Here are a few of the fun photos I took. I absolutely love how amazing that place is! Their displays, clothes, and home decorations are all so wonderful! I wish I worked there!!

Week 12: St. Patty's Day

The city seems to celebrate St. Patty's Day for weeks. There are St. Patty's Day celebrations weekends before and after the actual holiday. My photo was taken at a parade that went through my neighborhood. We just happened to be out when it came through. It's crazy how parades seem to just happen here in the city. In the Midwest, it's a big, planned out event.

happy spring!

First Day of Spring

Happy Spring!!!! In the city, Spring entered Beautifully!! Warm sunshine, beautiful blue skies, perfect 70 degree temperatures!

Seth and I spent a bit of our afternoon in Prospect Park. We weren't the only ones, the park was packed with people!

Pulled out my Toms for the nice new weather! I'm thinking about getting a new pair for the changing season... Need to look online to see the new colors and styles :)

Caught a group of musicians performing in Grand Army Plaza on the way back from the library. There's nothing better than great music on a warm, sunny day!

Even had a visit from our nephew! He brought us Spring Equinox gifts - A sharpened stick for Uncle Seth (sharpened by himself on the cement!) and a map of the park for me :) We played with him for a while in front of our building. Mostly Uncle Seth played... We did have fun throwing coins to the ground for him to collect before Uncle Seth. Then, he decided he didn't want to leave, in case more coins fell!! He he!

Later in the evening, we enjoyed a few great college basketball victories in the tournament! I was quite thrilled with some of the results! :) Can't wait to see what happens later this next week!!!!
