Here are a few photos from the Brooklyn Flea Market that takes place on Sundays in Dumbo. I have always wanted to go and happened to be in Dumbo last Sunday. Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked wondering through each area, so I definitely need to go back another Sunday.

**second heart is for tomorrow being friday, even if i have to work a little late...
**third heart is for thanksgiving! i'm spending the holiday with all of my siblings (+ girlfriends... a first and a definite sign that we are all getting older) and my dad and stepmom :) ooo and i'm squeezing in a visit with my best friend, melissa

warm glow of sunday

it took a while, but we finally made it to dumbo this afternoon. trains are horrible this weekend... we are especially noticing because we actually left our neighborhood each day this weekend. sunday was perfect weather for a walk around dumbo and across the brooklyn bridge. the sun finally came out late in the afternoon and sent warm colors across the city. here are a few images... and click on the links below a few of the photos to see a little more about certain photos.

hair up, new book, new clothes

loving this day off. loving it and wishing for more... thinking i need to start using my weekends better... thinking i need to start stopping in the city on my way home from work a day or two during the week... i keep talking about it but i've yet to really do any of it... i just get so exhausted and home sounds so comfortable. but that has to change...

wanted to take care of a few things that i couldn't today because of the holiday. :( i guess i'll be scrambling to squeeze them in tomorrow after work.

despite that, i headed into union square to meet seth for lunch. went to the book store (strand) before meeting seth. found the book for book club at half price (happy!) i decided to give book club another chance since the organizer has changed and hopefully the location will be in union square, much easier to access than the place before. we are reading confessions of a counterfeit farm girl by susan mccorkindale. i started it on the ride home this afternoon and know i'm going to enjoy it! it's a memoir about a woman who left her high paying nyc job to move to the sticks of virginia... o and by the way, if anyone is interested, i want to send this book to someone when i'm done with it. my shelves are getting to full. and i don't want full shelves to prevent me from getting more books in my future! let me know... i should be done with it later next week!

while at the book store, i spent a bit of time in the photography section. i realized that i need to start making trips to the book store more often, even if it is to look through books and not actually buy any. flipping through page after page, book after book, i was inspired. ideas were popping in my head... notes were being added to my iphone. it was hard to leave, but i knew if i made mr. wait any longer he'd be suffering of hunger, withering slowly to death in his office chair.

lunch with seth and one of his brothers. then after, i thought about just heading home... my camera battery was almost dead (completely mad at myself for schlepping it all around with me today only to realize the battery was barely breathing!) then, to my surprise, they both told me i should go shopping... so shopping i went. found a few shirts (on sale) and a new pair of tights.

now i'm home... wishing time would slow down so i could squeeze some more into my day off... but alas, it's coming to an end.

oh and one last thing... love this how to get a messy bun post. linked to it via a cup of jo (one of my favorite daily blogs). i think the messy bun is slowly making its way into my hair style... i use a rubber band, but i'm thinking i should try bobby pins like the how to suggests... with a rubber band, my bun falls lower and lower off the top of my head.

Pass Quickly Dear Tuesday

I hate to think that I spend so many days wishing them away, and today, I continue to make wishes for Tuesday to pass quickly. Tonight, I'll be working late, meetings with many different people about very important business. But after 8 p.m., when I'm on the subway heading towards Brooklyn, I'll start to feel all that pass away from me...

Wednesday is a day off from work! A day of freedom, and I cannot wait to figure out what I am going to do with it! I am thinking a museum might be squeezed in... I am wanting to go see the Robert Frank photography exhibit at the Met. (Even if that doesn't happen on Wednesday, I will be going sometime in the next few weeks after work during an evening.) I'm also thinking a long sit in a cafe somewhere (maybe the recently found Cupcake cafe near Union Square will do)... Sipping a warm chai latte and doing a little something with the inspiration that is filling me up lately.

Secret Spot

Seth and I went for a walk through the park on Saturday morning, before heading to watch our college football team beat our in-state rival. Instead of taking a path, we climbed the wall and wondered through the trees. This is the place we came to, a wooded area to ourselves, with an old path to no where in particular. It was beautiful, peaceful, and all ours to enjoy for the few minutes we spent in the park.

We love that we can almost always find a new area in the park... Another reason why New York City parks are so much better than any we've been to in the Midwest.

Coney Island Circa 1941

This red parachute jump tower, now just a standing icon of Coney Island, is always one of my favorite things to capture when I visit the boardwalk. I wonder if I would have ever done the parachute jump if it were up and running today or if I had been there in the 40s-60s when it was still operating. The idea of amusement parks on Coney Island is something very intriguing to me... Which is interesting, considering I'm not a huge fan of the carnivals and amusement parks of today.

End of the Season at Coney Island

Coney Island is coming to the official end of the season. Carnival rides shut down and most of the boardwalk shops are closing for the winter. But not all is dead in Coney Island. Sundays, throughout the winter, the Polar Bear club will grace the beach of Coney Island for the traditional swim in cold waters! I have to get down there one Sunday to see this!

Run Danny Run

Our friend, the one in the gray just running into the photo, ran the marathon last weekend. We were so happy to catch him in Central Park. Shocking that he and the other runners ran 26 miles that day and even more shocking, within a few hours!

Halloween Memories

Wanted to post these before it became ridiculously too late! A few shots from our excitement on Halloween. My future kids will definitely participate in Halloween, mainly because I want to eat their candy after they go to bed :)
