Broadway in Bryant Park

Rent, Grease, Legally Blonde, Young Frankenstein, and 13 were all represented at Bryant Park for the weekly summer Broadway celebration. This is the closest I have been to a Broadway production... One of the items on my list of To Do's in the City. This medley of Broadway shows was completely enjoyable as I got a taste of 5 different shows - one of which (13) hasn't even opened on Broadway yet!

Frankenstein carrying the girlfriend chick off the stage. When I was younger and visiting my dad and stepmom in Alaska, we would take trips all over the state. To keep us entertained during long hours of driving, my stepmom bought us the movie Young Frankenstein. None of us were interested in such an "old" movie... Mother knows best, and we were all hooked and watching it over and over again all summer long! My favorite line is the one about the brain when Igor explains which jar of brains he picked... "Abby, Abby Normal I do believe."

Rent performers singing "Seasons of Love"...

Five hundred twenty-five thousand Six hundred minutes,
Five hundred twenty-five thousand Moments so dear.
Five hundred twenty-five thousand Six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights In cups of coffee
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife.

13 opens in September. According to a brochure I received in the park, it's the first Broadway show cast to be completely comprised of teens. If you are interested, you can head to the website www.13themusical.com and download the title track for free.

This show is full of energy! They were dancing and moving and rocking the stage!

A very full park of people. It was scheduled right during lunch. Wouldn't you love to head to the park and enjoy Broadway songs during your lunch?
