Saturday Searching

Seth and I are nerds. Slept in until almost 1. Showed up at brunch (thanks gram for the Easter money!!) later than usual - even the owner noticed, asking where we'd been (we're usually some of the first in around 11 a.m.) Came home after our wonderful brunch, where we spent the whole time discussing our love for Brooklyn, dreaming of how it would be if we could just live here without having to leave and go to work, dreaming of how amazing it would be if we could move all of our family and friends here!

Spent the whole afternoon being nerds on our computers. And finally, the rain cleared, the Beatles burst out in song... Here Comes the Sun... Out came the sun, drying up all the rain. (Check out the pictures at the end!)

Rainy Day Self Portrait... Spent the day inside exploring the world on the world wide web, attempting to start my first art journal (inspiration has been building from iHanna)... Looking for inspiration, here are some of the great things I found from the Creatives among us:
  • Naturally dyed eggs with pretty designs... even though I am not really celebrating Easter... But I do like hard boiled eggs for egg salad sandwiches :)
  • I want to throw a party like this one, inspired by the Festival of Colors! I'm going to go find the color powder and see if I can talk anyone into joining me... Wouldn't it be great fun?
  • Thinking about taking a photo class from here... I'm going to either call or stop by to check it out on Monday. I've been really wanting to take a class since I got my new camera, but I don't really want to spend the money for a college class...
  • Look at these cute postcards! I love them, especially the message that is left on both after they are torn apart.
  • I should do this funny comment jar at work... I get some funny comments from the kids... like the day a student was touching my hair, describing it as strawberry blonde, she smelled it exclaimed with surprise that it also smelled of strawberries! (I had just put on strawberry flavored chapstick!)
  • Found great recycled art here.
  • I'm starting my collection of mustaches Now! I just need an excuse to throw a Mustache Party!
  • This Tooth Paste Squeezer would make my husband really happy. He's a bit of a fanatic when it comes to the tooth paste being at the top of the tube... I'm not, so you can imagine our tooth brushing conversations!
  • Found a few ideas for a family tree... here and here.
  • I wish Grandpa were still around, so he could make something like this for our future children.
  • And look at this creative photo thank you! I'm definitely going to remember this for when I have kids... I guess I could even do it now... I'm a kid to some people :)
  • I like mobiles. I don't have a single currently... but maybe next fall I'll make this one...
  • Love Love Love Margot and the Nuclear So & So's. Can't get enough of their music... Listen to one of my favorites, Skeleton Key. But I'm heart broken... They were HERE. In Brooklyn. And I missed them. If I could rewind life back 3 days... Sigh.
  • Got extra fabric scraps? Make this wonderful necklace. Looks easy. No scraps for me though.
  • Linked to this blog from one I follow... I might be interested in getting a drawing from Ten Dollar Drawings. I think I would want her to draw a camera... but I need to decide which model.
As soon as we realized the rain was cleared, Seth and I climbed to our roof to greet the sun.
A reflection in the rain from the day, blue skies above.

S snapped a few pictures of me. (... a few... He goes a little snap crazy when I give him the camera. I think he knows I'll be asking for it back quickly, so he tries to get his fair share in as fast as possible!) I think this might be my favorite outfit right now. I am still in love with those green pants. I'm also very happy about my new blue v-neck tee. Got it, and 2 others on yesterday's shopping trip north with Alissa. I kind of wish I'd bought more. I could wear a v-neck tee everyday.

My happy feet in my new shoes. Seth's sad feet in his old shoes.
