Playing with the processing of this photo. Since I'm not working for the week, I am getting to spend some more time making adjustments to my photos. I like how this one turned out... I'm not sure that I could repeat it, considering I don't really remember what I did and in what order.
This morning, Shutter Sisters shared some great information for photographers who are making photography a business. I would definitely love to work towards something like that in my future. It might take me a while to learn all that I need to know about my camera, about processing, about taking pictures that people will actually want, but I'm working on it. One of the things mentioned in the post this morning was about having a brand, something I'm working on developing... Here is one photographer that I love. The pictures at One Love Photo definitely have the photographer's brand. Her pictures make me want to shoot weddings! Stephanie Williams Photography is another photographer I recently found. I really like the pictures she has here. Here's another photographer I follow... Her photos are always so beautiful.
So, I play with different settings as I process my pictures. I don't know what I'm doing right or what I'm doing wrong. Some of my pictures look too processed... and I think I'll look back someday and not like them as much (once I finally figure out what I'm doing). I also change the processing and look depending on the photo... I might want it to be bright for one picture and antiqued for another. But I think I like the mixture of the two... the colors still bright, but an overall antiqued, older, faded, lighter feel to the picture.
What do you think? Any photos I've posted lately that you really like from my past posts in the blog or my flickr? I'm just curious what your opinion is... Leave me a note in the comments, invitation goes to all you silent friends and family who are reading. Let me hear from you!
Oh, and watch... I might start to plan a photo blog (not a site like the photographers above... not there yet), but a place I can focus on posting pictures only. I'd say it could be a photo-a-day project, but I failed at doing that (remember when I tried? can't really pull it with my work/commuting hours at this current point in my life...)

Can't wait for the photo blog! Your shots always have such a great feel to them. Very Alicia Bock. :)
You should do a photo blog! I love your eye.
Great perspective of the roller coaster. Ya know, I was born and raised in Manhattan, and I never ventured over to Brooklyn. Coney Island is an institution, and I can not say that I've ever been there. Thanks for posting this.
might i recommend http://jalbum.net/

thank you for the encouragement! and Rosa, you should venture out to Coney Island sometime when you are in the city... It's an interesting piece of the past. I spend most of my time trying to imagine it in its prime! The other day at the antique store, I picked up a post card of Coney Island sent in the 1920s sharing about a weekend trip there! It's a fun piece of history :)
Ian... I'll take a look at the link. And when are you coming to NYC?
